Each music genre has it's own unique techniques, music theory stubs, and compositional structure, however every musician from every musical background needs to develop the same basic music skills. Once these skills are developed, such as rhythm, chording, etc, then musicians can focus on specific skill sets involved in each genre. Most genres can be learned on an acoustic or electric guitar, or keyboad, however, some genres are very specific (such as classical or heavy metal)and are very difficult to learn on some instruments.
